Rance played David Sheridan in Babylon 5. David was the father of Captain John Sheridan, played by Bruce Boxleitner, and only appeared in a half-dozen or so episodes, but they were very memorable. Rance is the father of actor Clint Howard and actor-director Ron "Ronny" Howard. In one of those odd twists of fate that only the Hollywood can write them, Rance appeared in Little House on the Prarie, which starred Melissa Gilbert, the same Melissa Gilbert who later married Bruce Boxleitner, Rance's son on B5. And they same coincidences are dead! hahaha
