Dean played several characters in both Hercules and Xena before being cast as the younger version of Iolaus (played by Michael Hurst as an adult) in the pilot film of the same name, starring Ian Bohen as the title character. Ian played Young Hercules in several episodes of Hercules, in flashback episodes. When Young Hercules went to series, Ian was replaced by Ryan Gosling. That series also starred Meghan Desmond, Kevin Smith, and Joel Tobeck.
