9/28/01, 3:30 p.m. - good news, bad news, and worse news.

The good news first: for the past several days, I’ve been looking for one certain box. It contains my scanner, several setup cd’s, power cords, etc. It is the lifeline for my computer, and I could not find it anywhere. Well, last night, I found it!! Now I can get my computer set up. I just don’t know where I’m gonna put it yet! lol

And now, the lead-in to the bad news.

I have heard from a lot of people just how great the Harry Potter books were. With the film coming out, I had a slight interest, but nowhere near enough to buy any of them for myself. I mean, come on! How often is something that is that popular going to be good? Plus, it’s a children’s book! So, I put the first four books on my Amazon.com wishlist, and figured if someone wants me to read them that much, they’ll get the books for me; otherwise, I’ll get around to them in another year or three. Kim, who was a supervisor at work until last week, bought books 1 and 2 for my birthday. My reaction upon seeing the covers was kind of "um, yeah" but I didn’t say anything bad. I just figured that they were going to be more crappy books.

Now, the bad news. I started reading book 1 during lunch on Weds. I always read while I’m on lunch or break, and because it’s only during those times, it takes awhile for me to read books, especially when I’m not overly interested. I think the longest it’s taken so far is a month, and I was really dreading that one. Well, like I said, I started on Weds. On average, based on talking during lunch and reading, and everything else, I should be about 75 pages into it, if I am going really fast. I’m 228 pages into it. I’ve got about 80 pages left. Kim was right. How sad. Harry Potter is actually a very good book, and I’m getting very interested in it. And I love the character of "Wood" - Need I say more?

Now, the worse news. I can’t find book 2. I’m going really slow now, because I don’t know where the hell it went. It’s in one of the boxes, but who knows which one? I’ve gone through all of the boxes on the main floor and upstairs, and it’s not in there. That’s actually how I found the computer-parts box. But I can’t find book 2, and I already know I’ll need books 3 and 4. I think I read that book 4 is in paperback now. Good. At 7 bucks a pop, they are expensive, but they are well worth reading, and quite imaginative; that is something that is missing from too many books these days.

To end this on a positive/sad note, The Mummy Animated Series starts tomorrow, and I can’t watch it!!! Well, ok, I can watch it, just not right away. It airs at 8:30 a.m. on Saturdays in our area, and I’ll be either on my way to work or at work when that happens, so I have to record it and watch it when I get home. It’s a pain, but I’ll manage :)

I hope your day is going well. It’s time to sign off for now, and depending on how quickly I get things done at home, I might be on the net at home as quickly as Saturday. Here's hoping! lol
